Brimson Grow Library Circulation Policies

Library circulation policies cover three areas:

Document Delivery Options

Northern Baptist Theological Seminary students, faculty, and administration may request the delivery of library materials when they cannot come to campus to pick them up. Note that some delivery options include fees.

IF THE ITEM IS IN BRIMSON GROW LIBRARY:

--Journal articles found in the ATLA Religion Database or other FirstSearch databases:

If the journal is flagged as being in Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, you may still contact the library (630-620-2104 or library@seminary.edu) to request delivery of the article:

  • via fax or email ($0.15 per page)
  • via postal mail ($0.15 per page plus $1.50 postage)

--Books found in the library online catalog:

D.Min. students may contact the library (630-620-2104 or library@seminary.edu) to request that the books be sent by mail. D.Min. students may borrow up to 10 books at one time and are responsible to return them via UPS or Priority Mail with tracking.

All other students should use the "Request" button at the top of the screen in the online catalog to place the book on hold. The book will then be held at the front desk in the library for the next 4 days.

IF THE ITEM IS NOT IN BRIMSON GROW LIBRARY:

Remember, any book or journal article, whether it is in Brimson Grow Library or not, may always be requested through Interlibrary Loan at your local public library if that is more convenient. Otherwise, our ILL services are available to assist you:

--Journal articles found in the ATLA Religion Database or other FirstSearch databases:

If the article is not available at Northern, you must first pull up the detailed record in FirstSearch, and then click on the "ILL" button to request the article by Interlibrary Loan.

We will notify you when your article is ready for you to pick up.

If you would rather have the article delivered directly to you, fill out the "Comments" area on the online request form to let us know how you would like the article delivered. The same costs apply to delivering ILL articles as to delivering other articles:

  • via fax or email ($0.15 per page)
  • via postal mail ($0.15 per page plus $1.50 postage)

--Books found in WorldCat in FirstSearch:

If the book is not available at Northern, you must first pull up the detailed record in FirstSearch and then click on the "ILL" button to request the book by Interlibrary Loan. We will notify you when your book is ready for you to pick up. (Remember: It most likely will take less time to request books through Illinet Online rather than WorldCat.)
