Finding Resources at Brimson Grow Library

Where you start depends on what you are looking for:

Searching For Books or Audio/Visual Materials

There are three places to search for books and audio/visual materials:

> Searching In Our Library (Online Catalog):

We have over 44,000 books and more than 6,000 A/V items in our collection. Use the "Renew Books" button in the online catalog to renew materials that you want to keep longer.

> Searching In Illinois Libraries (I-Share):

I-Share searches all 71 CARLI libraries in the state of Illinois. Using the online REQUEST form in I-Share is one of the fastest ways to request books from other libraries.

> Searching In All Libraries (WorldCat):

Search WorldCat to find materials at over 9,000 libraries around the world.
You can place online interlibrary loan requests for books not available at
Northern's library.

> Reserve Readings for Classes:

Clicking on this link is the same as clicking on the Course Reserves tab in the online catalog. From the Course Reserves search screen, you can find reserve materials listed by professor's name or by course title. Most reserves are a 2-hour checkout for use in the library only.

> D.Min. Theses:

Click on this link for instructions on three ways to locate D.Min. theses.

Searching For Journal Articles

There are multiple databases available to help you find journal articles:

Clicking on the "Info" icon to the right of a database description will provide detailed information about the contents of the database and searching tips to help you use that database effectively.

> Search Academic Search Premier
