Brimson Grow Library Circulation Policies
Library circulation policies cover three areas:
Loan Terms and Fines
Books in the regular circulating collection (stacks on the lower level)
are loaned for 1 month to students, staff, and community residents,
2 months to Doctor of Ministry students and adjunct faculty, and
6 months to regular and affiliate faculty.
Renewal Period:
The renewal period will be four weeks, with two renewals allowed.
The easiest way to renew materials is through the MyAccount option
in the library online catalog.
Renewal requests will also be accepted by phone (630)620-2104,
FAX (630)620-2170, or e-mail
(library@seminary.edu).
Fines:
Overdue fines for regular items are $.10 per item per day
and $.25 per day for media materials.
Overdue fines for materials on two
hour reserve are $.25 per hour for each hour overdue.
Media Items:
Video and audio cassettes, slides, and kits are loaned for one week.
Please rewind cassettes before returning, otherwise a $1.00 rewind fee will be assigned.
Fines for overdue media items are $.25 per item per day. To avoid damage to plastic
covers, all media items must be returned directly to the circulation desk.
Reserves:
Loan periods for reserves are usually two hours or two days. All reserve items should
be returned directly to the
circulation desk for prompt check-in.
Renewal of reserves must be arranged IN PERSON.
Returns:
Books may be returned to either the circulation desk or the book drop
located outside the Library. Please return all media and reserves directly to the circulation desk.
Recalls:
A book in demand may be recalled after a period of two weeks. Please return the
book to the circulation desk as soon as possible after the notice of recall is received.
After seven days, a fine of $.25 per item per day will be charged until the recalled item
is returned.
Lost Materials:
The replacement cost for lost books is $50 per book. The replacement cost for lost media is $15
for audio cassettes, $50 for video cassettes, and $100 for slide sets and kits. A $15 processing
fee is also charged to cover the cost of cataloging and processing a replacement item.
Damaged items:
When an item is returned in a damaged state, a charge of $15 will be assessed. If the
item is so damaged that it is not usable, the penalty for a lost item will apply.
Non-circulating resources:
Special collections, archival materials, journals, and microforms may only be used in the
library.
