A New Schedule Going Forward
By: Northern Seminary
It is one year since I began to write and record these weekly Bible studies. The time has gone fast!
I have been encouraged by the number who follow the studies, and some write to let me know a particular study has been of help to them. I love hearing news of what God is doing in people’s lives, so feel free to get in touch.
As I move forward I am making one small change. Until now a new study has appeared each Monday morning, but from February 18, 2014 it will appear on Tuesday mornings. The only reason for the change is that the demands of my role as Seminary President often mean I am working close to deadlines, and one day later will greatly assist the pattern of my work.
Tomorrow, then, you will find the second study in the first chapter of Romans. It is an amazing book, and down through the centuries many have testified to life-changing experiences through reading Romans. John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement, even had such a moment on May 24, 1738 with just an introduction to the book of Romans! In his Journal, he wrote:
“In the evening I went very unwillingly to a society in Aldersgate Street, where one was reading Luther’s preface to the Epistle to the Romans. About a quarter before nine, while he was describing the change which God works in the heart through faith in Christ, I felt my heart strangely warmed. I felt I did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and an assurance was given me that He had taken away my sins, even mine, and saved me from the law of sin and death.”
If that is what even the preface can do, how much more the inspired word itself! Enjoy the studies.
