A Thank You and Goodbye from Alistair Brown
By: Northern Seminary
It’s been a privilege to serve as President of Northern Seminary for the last seven and a half years, but now is the moment to step down, as Northern’s eleventh President, Dr. William D. Shiell, takes up the office.
I began my tenure in mid-September of 2008. I have teased that the recession began as soon as I arrived in the USA so perhaps it was my fault. It wasn’t my fault, but it certainly was a serious challenge with which to begin.
But Northern came through that challenge stronger, and very focused on equipping God’s church with great leaders. Lots of new initiatives, many still being developed, have emerged from that time.
I have worked with a fabulous team of trustees, faculty, and staff, and I’m proud of them all. They are still there, and under the leadership of Dr. Bill Shiell I know they will take the seminary forward to its greatest days.
It’s time soon for my wife, Alison, and I to return to be nearer family in the UK. Leaving is bitter sweet, as we’re sad to go but excited by what’s ahead. Above all, we know it’s God’s time for this change. Please keep us in your prayers, as I trust you will also pray for my successor and the whole community of Northern Seminary.
Thank you for your love, your welcomes, and your prayers over these years. We have been greatly blessed, and we will forget none of you.
