Background

Mr. Walter has been involved in theological library work in the Chicago area since 1989. He worked in the seminary library at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield first as a circulation assistant and then as a cataloger. While working at Trinity
as the head cataloger in 1995, he assisted in coordinating the merger of the undergraduate and graduate libraries to form the university library of Trinity International University. Since then he has served in various positions including head of technical services and systems librarian at
Trinity International University and at the Jesuit-Krauss-McCormick Library in Chicago, the library for both the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and McCormick Theological Seminary.

Mr. Walter has been the director of the Brimson Grow Library at Northern since July, 2002.

He is currently working toward completing the M.Div. program at Northern. He is married to Jane and has two children, David and Katherine. He and his family attend Church of the Great Shepherd, part of the Anglican Mission in America, where Mr. Walter is an active member of the lay leadership.

He currently produces two blogs for the library:
the Brimson Grow Library News blog and
Views on Theological Librarianship.
