Harry Parker

 

Adjunct Professor of Preaching

Harry Parker has served as Adjunct Professor of Preaching since 1997.  His education includes a B.A. from Kalamzaoo College, an M.Div. from Northern Seminary and a D.Min. from Pittsburgh Seminary.  His doctoral focus was on preaching and worship.  He has also studied at Brandeis University's Jacob Hiatt Institute in Jerusalem, Marquette University in Milwaukee and Jerusalem University College.  He has thirty years of pastoral experience at three American Baptist congregations.  Since 1990 he has served as the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oak Park, a multi-ethnic congregation in the Chicago suburbs. He has a passion for teaching preaching that is authentic, creative, grace-filled and biblically faithful.  He delights in helping a preacher find his/her "voice" from among the many models of effective preaching that are available.
