Background

Dr. Price was born in Chicago and grew up in a Christian home. He joined the Air Force in 1969 and made a commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord on July 21, 1969 at a crusade organized by the Billy Graham Association in Biloxi, Mississippi. Three days later, two men from The Navigators, an organization specializing in discipleship and leadership development, came by to follow up on those who made professions of faith at the crusade. Bob eventually became a staff member with The Navigators after serving in Vietnam for one year. He then served 23 years in full-time ministry with The Navigators at the University of Illinois and in urban ministry in Chicago.

Ordained in 1977 at Twin City Bible Church in Urbana, Illinois, Dr. Price completed graduate studies while serving as campus minister with The Navigators. He completed a graduate degree in Interpersonal Communication while developing urban ministries. Bob also founded Phoenix Ministries, a not-for-profit enterprise for housing rehab, job development and evangelism in urban communities. He has also served as a pastor of a multicultural community using a household church strategy. In addition, Dr. Price also serves as the Director of Leadership Development for Christian Reformed Home Missions. He is married to Shirley, who is a music teacher in Markham, IL, and has two children and two grandchildren. The Prices live in Matteson, Illinois.
