Dr. Carla Waterman has been teaching in the area of Christian spiritual formation since 1995. She was formerly on the Christian Education faculty at Wheaton College, and has served the local church in the areas of spiritual formation and pastoral care.

Dr. Waterman came to Northern in 2000 to teach in the Worship and Spirituality program established by Dr. Robert Webber. She is currently the Affiliate Professor of Spiritual Formation.

She finds great fulfillment in the worship life
of the community, in classroom teaching, and in walking alongside students as the Lord accomplishes his work in their lives.

Carla is married to Wyatt and has a son, Ethan. When she is not preparing for class or buried in a good novel, Carla enjoys playing the piano, puttering in her backyard and riding her bike on the nature paths throughout the western Chicago suburbs.
