Robert Nordling

Adjunct Professor of Worship

Robert Nordling serves as adjunct faculty at Northern Seminary teaching in the area of worship. He is also adjunct music faculty at Trinity International University in Deerfield where he conducts the orchestra. He was assistant professor of music for 10 years at the Calvin College Music Department where he conducted the Calvin College Orchestra and Calvin Alumni Orchestra and taught in the areas of music history, conducting and music and worship.

He also served as Resource Development Specialist for the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. Along with his expertise in standard symphonic literature, his areas of interest also include instrumental liturgical music, worship design and leadership across a broad spectrum of traditions and styles and Christian discipleship. Nordling has held music ministry positions in California, Washington and Reigate, England.

Nordling is the editor and composer/arranger of the recently released series Everything that has breath: Instrumental accompaniments for congregational singing. The series is published jointly through CICW and Adoro Publications.

His interests include Arthurian literature, poetry, English football teams, Indian food, furniture-making, Welsh Terriers, Tom Waits, Gustav Mahler, Cherith Nordling and espresso coffee.
