Overview of Northern Seminary
Founded
1913 by the congregation of Second Baptist Church of Chicago.
Location
We have four campuses throughout the Chicago area. They are in Lombard, Elgin, Lawndale(west side of Chicago), and Rockford. To learn more, click here.
Students
Our students represent a wide variety of Protestant denominations and faith traditions--Baptist, Evangelical Free, Christian Missionary Alliance, Methodist, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Episcopal and more! Roughly 40% are female and 28% are 30 years old and younger. Northern values a rich diversity of students where 40% are people of color. This group includes African-American, Hispanic and Asian students.
Alumni
The over 1,900 women and men who have graduated from Northern have served in all 50 states and over 30 countries.

Degrees
We offer the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Christian Ministries and Doctor of Ministry degrees with a number of emphases. For more information on degree programs, click here.

Accreditation
Northern Seminary is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
