Latino people groups make up a higher percentage of the United States population than ever before in history, with numbers continuing to climb ever year. With that growth comes an increasing need for capable, bilingual ministry workers. In response, Instituto de Estudios Teológicos (IET), a Chicago-based collective led by pastor Dr. David Del Salto, is hosting a workshop to equip and encourage Spanish-speaking ministers. The event's theme will be "Resources for Ministry," and all seminars will be delivered in Spanish.
Four major topics will be covered over the course of the day (translated titles used in the following). Northern Seminary's own Dr. Claude Mariottini will open the workshop with a seminar about The Pentateuch, entitled "Promise and Challenge." Following that, Jorge Meléndez, Licentiate, will teach "Models of Evangelism and Discipleship." The third session, entitled "Marital and Family Communication," will be delivered by Dr. David Del Salto. The workshop will close with a seminar on "Resources and Models for Dynamic and Creative Children's Ministry," led by Zenovia Osorio, Licentiate, of Chicago's Iglesia Bautista Central.
Admission to the "Resources for Ministry" workshop is free for IET students, and costs $10 for the general public. Spanish-speaking ministers of all experience levels are welcome to attend! The event will commence from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday, February 23, at Northern Seminary's Lindner Conference Center. Call 630-890-9102 for more information.
