In the first year of study students enroll in Formation for Christian Ministry (SM 301). This course is a small group experience under faculty leadership with designated readings, prayer, guided discussion, peer reflection and support. The primary agenda of this course is to assist students as they seek to understand themselves as followers of Jesus Christ in pursuit of seminary training in order to serve Christ's church in ministry. Below are a few resources your will need for the course and information about the Midwest Career Assessment.

Midwest Career Assessment

The purpose of this assessment is to assist students in understanding their call to ministry, what it implies for future personal development and life work, and how their unique gifts can be utilized in the most meaningful and effective ways. Through this process students will have the opportunity to take several assessments, each one designed to assist students in further understanding who they are, how God called them, and to discover areas of strength and areas of needed growth. We are so excited to offer our students this wonderful opportunity through the Formation for Christian Ministry experience. Listed below are the assessments each student will have the opportunity to complete:

1) Autobiographical Questionnaire - assessment students complete at home

2) MBTI - completed online

3) Strongs Index - completed online

4) MMPI-2 - completed in assessment opportunity session, scheduled in the first day of class

5) Sentence Completion - completed in assessment opportunity session, scheduled in the first day of class

6) Small Group Session - also scheduled in the first day of class. This happens at the Midwest Career Center in Westchester, IL

Students will receive complete information on these assessments and requirements in their formation class.
