The Doctor of Ministry degree is the highest earned professional degree for ministry and brings attention to issues which arise within the student's ministry setting. Northern offers three types of DMin programs with specialized emphases available in each. Below are descriptions of the three types and lists of specialized emphases for each.

Traditional

The traditional Doctor of Ministry program provides students the opportunity to design their own emphasis or pursue the Ministry Leadership emphasis. Courses are usually held in one-week intensives in January, June, or July. Typically, students take two courses per year. Each course is 4 credit hours, and the project portion of the degree is 8 hours.

Partnership

Northern is pleased to offer a growing number of opportunities to earn a DMin degree in partnership with ministries and organizations who share our Kingdom values.  In such programs, students will only take three courses on Northern's Lombard campus and the other 4 to 6 will be taken in conjunction with a conference or affiliate program.

Cohort

The Cohort Doctor of Ministry is a program specifically designed to engage a group of students on a specific topic. All students in the cohort begin and end their degree at the same time and take all courses together.
