Pastoral Care - Emphasis
Do you like to provide a listening ear? Are you interested in providing biblically-grounded counsel to your congregation?
If these statements describe you, then you may want to consider pursuing the Pastoral Care emphasis.
Northern has developed a Pastoral Care emphasis designed to fit the specific interests and needs of individuals interested in exploring a call to this type of ministry. The specialized courses will prepare students who are interested in providing pastoral care as an essential part of their ministry.
Individuals will receive ministry training that is:
Biblical. [Grounded in Scripture]
Combined with a comprehensive academic degree program that provides a solid foundation in the study of scripture, church history, theology and ethics, specialized courses challenge the student to engage in and reflect on issues integral to providing appropriate, biblically-grounded pastoral care.
Missional. [Sharing Christ in Context]
Northern Seminary provides students with unique ways to learn how to share Christ in context. Through a variety of experiential learning methods —which could include, for example, students taking turns at role-playing between pastor and care recipient —students receive practical, first-hand training that will equip them for contextually-relevant ministry leadership.
Personal. [Holistic, Relational Ministry]
Individuals pursuing the Pastoral Care emphasis benefit from Northern’s commitment to personal, holistic ministry training. From the availability of professors to engage in discussion and guide students in discerning their call, to the opportunity to connect with other students on the same path, individuals experience a community that partners with them in their journey toward effective Pastoral Care.
