Each degree program is designed to incorporate the academic and practical components of ministry. Students are engaged in the biblical text while studying challenges facing today’s church. Above all, we encourage a deepened understanding of your life in Christ and how that affects your ministry. The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (M.A.C.M.) is a two-year degree that incorporates practical ministry training in preaching, pastoral care & counseling, adult & children's ministries, cross-cultural ministry, worship, urban studies, youth ministry, missional church and evangelism while deepening biblical and theological understanding.

The Masters Specialization is for students who would like to receive masters-level credit for courses, but are not specifically working toward a degree. All 9 of the courses (27 hours) taken in this specialization can be transferred to a degree should the student choose to do so. With a foundation in Bible and theology, this specialization allows the student to pursue a concentration that is both interesting and personally useful.

Overview
Traditional (36 hours)    
The traditional Doctor of Ministry program provides students the opportunity to design their own emphasis or pursue the Ministry Leadership emphasis. Courses are usually held in one-week intensives in January, June, or July. Typically, students take two courses per year.

Program-Based (36-37 hours)    
The program-based Doctor of Ministry is tied to conferences or programs provided by our affiliates or partners. In such programs, students will only take three courses on Northern's Lombard campus and the other 4 to 6 will be taken in conjunction with a conference or affiliate program.

Christian Community Development (CCD) $299/month for 42 months  
     
Cohort (36 hours)    
The Cohort Doctor of Ministry is a program specifically designed to engage a group of students on a specific topic. All students in the cohort begin and end their degree at the same time and take all courses together.

Baptist Executive Leadership $357/month for 42 months

The Doctor of Ministry degree is the highest earned professional degree for ministry and brings attention to issues which arise within the student's ministry setting. Northern offers three types of DMin programs with specialized emphases available in each. Below are descriptions of the three types and lists of specialized emphases for each.
