Northern Dean Charles Hambrick-Stowe Returns to Pastoral Ministry
November 20th, 2008It is a point of great gratification to all at Northern Seminary that faculty members, in addition to their hard work in the field of academics, are practicing ministers. Many are senior pastors in local churches, while others served churches for years before accepting full-time positions at the Seminary.
The faculty at Northern have always sought to hear God’s call and answer it whole-heartedly; an example they encourage their students to follow. It is in answer to this call that, after four years of service as Northern Seminary’s Dean, Dr. Charles Hambrick-Stowe returns to pastoral ministry.
Dr. Hambrick-Stowe has been a much-beloved member of the Northern Seminary family, providing a steady and comforting presence on campus throughout the seasons of change. In the words of Northern President, Dr. Alistair Brown:
“We know he has built special relationships with the student body and the seminary community and has been greatly appreciated for many things including being available to students personally, establishing forums, carefully listening and responding to concerns, and demonstrating a sharp wit and excellence in the classroom.”
Dr. Hambrick-Stowe’s last day at the Seminary will be October 31. In his gracious letter of farewell, he stated, “I love our students . . . I love our faculty . . . Northern Seminary is a wonderful family.”
While there is no doubt that his presence will be missed, the Northern family wishes all the best to Dr. Hambrick-Stowe and his family as he pursues God’s call at First Congregational Church in Ridgefield, CT.
