Welcome to the new Brimson Grow Library Supervisor Scott Erdenberg

Northern Seminary welcomes Scott Erdenberg as the new supervisor of the Brimson Grow Library.  The Seminary feels as though Scott is returning home.   A few years ago Scott was offered the Presidential Scholarship from Northern.  He prayerfully decided to first complete training in librarianship through the highly regarded and competitive University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana Master’s in Library and Information Science degree program.  We think it is more than coincidence that Scott returns to the seminary in a leadership role.

As Library Supervisor, Scott will be responsible for the administration and management of the Brimson Grow Library, including supervising staff and supporting the Integrated Library System (ILS). He will also coordinate with the Information Technology department in the management of library technologies, manage collection development, provide research support and training for faculty and students, and develop the long-range plan for the library.  Scott’s education includes earning the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree from Trinity International University with concentrations in contemporary philosophy and the philosophy of language and religion.

Scott’s professional experience has prepared him well for the work and ministry of the Brimson Grow Library.  Prior to coming to Northern, he served the Regenstein Library of the University of Chicago in collections management at the Special Collections Research Center where he planned and supervised collection shifts in excess of 14,000 linear feet.  Prior experience includes working for the Mansueto Library where he developed training materials for faculty, professional staff, and students, and supervised the initial loading of over 900,000 items into the library collection.  Scott will be an excellent resource as the seminary moves into new degree programs in missional theology, worship and New Testament studies, and pilots new methods for the delivery of theological education.  The Search Committee members were inspired by Scott’s interest in serving the library and being part of the team which is launching Northern into a new future.  He has excellent skill in assessing and resolving problems.

Please feel free to stop by the Brimson Grow Library to welcome Scott into the Northern family!
