Your Story Matters
By: Greg Armstrong
There is a question we ask ourselves at some point in life’s journey: “Does my contribution to this world really matter?” With so many people dealing with discouragement and fear in our nation, this question arises in hope of finding meaning and discerning what is it that God is doing in our lives?
As an Admissions Director at Northern Seminary, I’m blessed to be in many of these conversations with people who are discerning God’s call. I’m honored to hear the stories of courage, strength, and hope that have made these individuals who they are today. Whether I’m speaking with Youth Pastors, Senior Pastors, Worship Leaders, those who minister in Urban contexts, or persons who are considering how they might serve Christ, each one expresses a unique life story that shapes who they are and how they have a direct impact within the community to which they have been called. These conversations have led me to realize that we all have a story. The common denominator that allows us to be effective in community is the impact of our story, and the willingness to share our story with others.
Have you considered that your story has the ability to change someone else’s life? Perhaps all that you have encountered in your life has shaped within you the ability to speak words of encouragement, truth, and hope to those that you encounter on a daily basis.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good, to those that are called according to His purpose. Let me encourage you that YOUR STORY MATTERS. All the pain, success, and lessons are shaped into a beautiful narrative that God can use to encourage someone else.
We want to hear your story and share ways in which we can partner with you to grow as a leader. I want to personally invite you to our next Northern Discovery night on November 15th at 6:00pm. Join some of our staff faculty and current students to learn more about what Northern has to contribute to your ongoing story.
We will be offering chances to win the following prizes; 1) A $250 scholarship**, 2) A $100 Amazon gift card* or 3) A collection of books from our Northern Professors.
We look forward to seeing you there and don’t forget to RSVP!
