At the Expo for Today’s Black Woman

I am excited to report that Northern Seminary will be an exhibitor at the 22nd annual Black Women’s Expo.  Described as the “largest and most-respected African American event in the Chicagoland area!”, the Expo is a three day event held at the McCormick Place, 2233 S. Martin Luther King Drive, Chicago, IL – April 8 – 10. The Expo provides an opportunity for brands to “engage with the African American consumer.”  This year’s theme is #SheMatters and we will be there to meet women and men who are interested in answering their call to ministry.

I am attending the Expo with eight of our amazing African American female students, who will be sharing their stories with prospective students. Our seminarians made a bold move to answer God’s call to theological education and we want them to share their message with others who may be discerning a similar call.

Northern is also there for the express purpose of recruiting women.  A 2013 study with the Association of Theological Schools reported that women make up only 37% of the student body in seminary.  The students that will be at our exhibitor’s booth at the Expo are women who have pushed through obstacles and have risen to the occasion.  Northern celebrates the strength of these students, individually, and the strength of women in ministry, collectively.  We understand and celebrate the value women bring to God’s Kingdom. We want to show our support of them and their calling and encourage them as press forward, trusting God.

Northern Seminary cares about everyone’s call.
If you are attending the Expo, stop by and see us.  We’re located at booth 716, by Com Ed and the DuSable Museum bus. Come by and talk to our students and learn more about their call to ministry.  Check out our new programs and learn about distance learning opportunities.
Northern is thrilled to exhibit at the Black Women’s Expo. We value the training of women and men and want those who are interested in pursuing a theological education to know that we stand and partner with them.
