Backpacking with Bill: Touring Olympia

By: William D. Shiell

olympia1We’re having a memorable time in Greece. Each day begins with cool weather in the morning and warms up to the 70’s by mid-afternoon. After a big breakfast in the hotel, we drive a couple of hours for a coffee break. We then travel two more hours for lunch stop. We’re not only retracing the journeys of Paul and John; we’re also on a progressive dinner of Paul’s Greek meals. After an afternoon tour, we spend the night in a hotel.

After a three hour drive along the Ionian Sea today, we stopped for the afternoon and evening in Olympia. We toured the ruins of the site of the ancient Olympics and visited the museum. Afterward, we sampled locally-made olive oil from a nearby shop.olympia2

Tomorrow, we return to the Pauline portion of the program. We travel to Corinth and tour the ruins of this well-known biblical city. Thanks for your prayers and well wishes. The group is in good spirits, and we’re looking forward to a wonderful Lord’s Day.olympia3
