Coronavirus Information

We will be continually updating this page with information and resources for our Northern Seminary community.  To the right, under Related Pages, you can find additional content for you to use at this time.  If you have questions about the information below or cannot find an answer, reach out to us at We are praying for our community as they adapt to this season.

Beginning May 24, 2021, please follow these guidelines:

Lisle Center Students

  • Masks are required for all persons in public areas, including graduating students and families picking up caps and gowns.
  • Fully vaccinated students are not required to wear masks in the classroom.
  • Fully vaccinated students in small group discussions, including faculty, will not be required to wear masks.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated, please continue to wear a mask at all times inside the Lisle Center.
  • Faculty will teach without masks (and behind a plexiglass partition) at least six feet away from students.
  • We will provide PPE masks and hand sanitizer inside the Lisle Center.
  • Please adhere to social distancing protocols.
  • We have signs posted to remind people of social distancing – please practice social distancing at all times, including while in the Student Commons area.

Local students who are uncomfortable attending class in-person are welcome to participate via Northern Live.

All students should review the Northern Live attendance standards HERE. Most importantly, students must connect from a private room without distractions.

The library is transitioning to a digital platform. A limited number of books are available, and all students are encouraged to use I-Share or borrow through an ATLA library.

In addition, the library will provide support to users via email and phone during core hours and assist you with locating books and resources elsewhere.

Doors to the Lisle Center will be unlocked during graduation week and summer intensive weeks during regular business hours. If you need additional access to the building outside of normal hours or assistance with library services, please contact the following people:

Andrea Pingel or 630.620.2108

Pam Grandison or 630.620.2103 or

Dennis Swanson, Director of Library and Technology or 630-620-2115.

Illinois is in the Bridge Phase of reopening, which means the Lisle and Lawndale centers are open for in-person teaching and in-person library use at students’ discretion. The buildings are open to visitors and guests during commencement week and summer intensives.

Students may participate via classes either in person or via Northern Live at their discretion. No more than 50 persons will be allowed in the building. Students choosing to come to campus for class will be required to follow Northern’s safety protocol for COVID-19. For students coming to class in person, we will provide hand sanitizer and PPE masks for you to wear. Each person is responsible to check their own temperature prior to coming. If you have any questions, please contact Linda Owens.

All Lisle Center intensive courses will be held as scheduled and will be available in person and via Northern Live options for persons unable to travel.
