Global Seminary Education
What can Northern’s role be in the Spirit’s movement globally? We are not the same Seminary we were seven years ago, nor is the world we live in today the same. We don’t have to decide where God is working and then figure out how to help. Local leaders are already responding to the Spirit’s work. Our role is to offer innovative discipleship tools to help them nurture the tender shoots sprouting up in their contexts.
Let me give you one example. In Debrecen, Hungary, Northern alumnus Jon Good and his wife Amanda are educating global leaders. But the Goods are not educating Hungarians alone. They’re working with people from seven countries. This picture represents students from Brazil, Taiwan, Nigeria, Hungary, Ecuador, Romania, and the U.S. All live in Budapest for a season; many will return to their home countries. Among these are new converts and seasoned disciples. They work in the marketplace and want to be leaders in their churches. Each is exploring God’s call and purpose.
How are they able to have such an impact? Jon and Amanda are talented networkers– they are the “Priscilla and Aquila” of Hungary. We have a trusted relationship with them through our Northern alumni network and partnership, International Ministries.
Today, they are utilizing the Seminary Now Platform, facilitating courses with these global marketplace leaders, and discussing the material provided through the course workbook. We did not have to tell Jon and Amanda how to utilize the platform. Nor did we find these disciples. The Spirit did that work. Through your gifts, you provided the Seminary Now platform so Jon and Amanda could spread the gospel to seven other countries.
That’s just one example. With platforms like Seminary Now, training centers like the Grow Center, Center for Women in Leadership, the Center for Theological Integrity, and the partnership with Christian Community Development Association we are responding to the needs of Christians worldwide as “One Northern.”
You can be involved as well.
1). Join us for the Global Church Forum. You’ll hear about the Spirit’s movement worldwide and have the opportunity to engage in the conversation.
2.) Engage your church. If your church or missionary has an existing relationship with a global church, let us know. We would be happy to connect them to one of our resources to help deepen their faith and grow their leadership capacity.
3.) Pray for people like Jon and Amanda Good as they train local leaders.
4.) Give so that students around the world can have access to Seminary Now.
Together, with God’s help, we will nurture these shoots of the gospel into joyful witnesses worldwide.
