A New Kind of Preacher Participant Application

A New Kind of Preacher (NKP) is a program funded by the Lilly Endowment as part of its Strengthening the Quality of Preaching Initiative.  Peer Learning Groups (PLGs) are a vital part of this program as they help each pastor/ministry leader develop as A New Kind of Preacher.

The purpose of a PLG is to provide a space for renewal and revitalization. Each PLG commits to meeting for two years, and groups will meet a minimum of 10 times (approximately once per month) in the first year. In the second year, members will set their own agenda and meeting schedule.

Participant Qualifications:
Participants should be:

  • Working in a ministry context where they can consistently apply learning and leadership.
  • Asking questions that demonstrate theological and intellectual curiosity.
  • Dedicating time to reading and understanding all provided materials.
  • Creating time and space to journey with the PLG to become a new kind of preacher.
  • Committing to attend the following gatherings:

-All meetings in the first year of the program, as scheduled by the PLG facilitator.

-All meetings in the second year of the program, as scheduled by the PLG participants.

-Annual preaching forum, which is held every year in October

If you are interested in joining a PLG and becoming a new kind of preacher, please complete the following application.
