Discipleship, Mission, and the Future of Theological Education: 3 Major Events Coming Up at the End of October
At the end of October, Northern will be hosting three significant events that we believe will be of interest to students, alumni, and local Christian pastors and leaders. Event #1 is being held at Northern’s Kern Hall, and Events 2 and 3 at the Lindner Conference Center.
Event #1 – The Future of Theological Education: Presentations and Discussion
Thursday, October 27, 7-9PM
Join us as 3DM, a ministry which works with church planters and pastors on issues of discipleship and mission presents a video and paper on the future of theological education. Our own Dr. David Fitch will be one of the respondents and there will be opportunity for all in attendance to contribute to the discussion.
This event is free, but registration is necessary. More information and registration options are available here: http://www.weare3dm.com/theologicaldiscussion.
Event #2 – A Workshop on Discipleship and Mission
Friday, October 28, 9AM-5PM
3DM, a ministry team that trains church planters and pastors in the areas of discipleship and mission will be hosting a free workshop on campus. This event is meant to stimulate your thinking in these areas, introduce you to ministry tools and practices related to these topics, and give you an opportunity to ask questions and participate in dialogue. You will also be able to learn more about 3DM and what they do. Northern is working on developing a partnership with 3DM that would enable you to integrate participation in their Learning Communities (a 2-year, intensive and mentor-based experience) into your degree program.
This event is free, but registration is necessary. More information and registration options are available here: http://weare3dm.com/chicagoworkshop.
Event #3 – The Missional Learning Commons
Friday, October 29, 7-9PM – Saturday, October 30, 8:30AM-3PM
The Missional Learning Commons is “A collaborative learning event for missional churches to share stories, discuss ideas, and encourage one another for the sake of incarnating the Gospel in their contexts.” The MLC serves as an annual, regional gathering for “missionally-minded,” Church and other Christian leaders, as well as students. You may be especially interested to know that on Saturday Chris Backert of the Baptist General Association of Virginia will host a free lunch meeting for seminary students and others who are interested in church planting. The BGAV has some funding available for qualified and motivated leaders.
This event costs $10 and includes lunch on Saturday. More information and registration options are available here: http://missionalcommons.org.
We hope to see you at one or all of these events. Please, feel free to pass this information along to anyone else that you feel might be interested.
