Online Gathering Recap

As the Coronavirus continues to impact the world, the church has to adapt the way it leads and serves. Beginning March 26  through April 28, Dr. Bill Shiell will be leading a weekly online gathering for ministry leaders to discuss issues, gain wisdom, discover solutions, and mobilize churches and church leaders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here is a summary of resources from the gatherings.

FIRST RESPONDERS

  • Small groups can deliver catered meals to local ER/Hospital staff teams. This is one way to support a local restaurant while feeding hospital teams

CARING FOR ABUSED & MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS

  • Prepare volunteers who are making care calls to anticipate abuse and trauma.
  • Trusted Authors on the topic: Leslie Vernick, Lundy Bancroft, Natalie Hoffman at Flying Free, Sarah McDugal, Helena Knowlton at Confusion to Clarity

MINISTERING TO THOSE WITHOUT TECH

ADDRESSING CHURCH STRUCTURES, FINANCES & SYSTEMS

SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY

  • Learn how to supporting first responders
  • look into a drive through food pantry
  • ow you can be supporting local schools
  • maybe your congregation can be delivering food for community members
  • asking organizations that work with homeless/elderly for how we can support
  • care packages for the nursing homes, etc.

FUNERALS OF COVID-19 VICTIMS

  • Be sure to work with funeral directors to learn best practices during this season
  • consider having a celebration of life or celebrating All Saints Day once everything is settled down

CELEBRATING EASTER

  • Creative Ideas: Antique Car Parade, Palm Sunday Car parade with police escort, Service in the cemetery
