Northern Seminary announces a new partnership with the Baptist General Association of Virginia to train the next generation of church leaders.

As the BGAV’s seminary partner for distance education, Northern will deliver accessible theological education to students in Virginia via interactive live-streaming classes and local intensive gatherings, allowing students to learn how to exegete their local context and lead their church wherever they live.

The Master of Divinity and the Master of Arts in Christian Ministries can be completed entirely in Virginia through a combination of live-streaming classes and local intensive classes. (If students choose a specialization in the MDiv or MA, they will travel to annual one-week intensive classes on the main campus in Chicago.)

Live-Streaming Classes: Students take most classes through Northern’s unique interactive live-streaming delivery (Northern Live), which allows them to engage in a vibrant classroom experience and interact with Northern’s premier faculty and classroom peers students in real time without leaving their church.

Local Classes & Gatherings: Students will take a one-week summer intensive class each year in Virginia, as well as gather each Fall at the BGAV annual meeting and each Spring at the Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care Training event.

Programs and Specializations

Northern offers the Master of Divinity, Master of Arts, and Certificate programs. Students may choose one of several specializations, including Theology & Mission, New Testament, Christian Ministries, Christian Community Development, Worship, and many more.

Convenient Schedule

Classes are offered conveniently in the evenings on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Students in a specialization group will take a sequence of classes at the same time each week.

Tuition & Scholarships

Information about tuition and Northern scholarships is available here. Students may apply for Northern scholarships up to 20%.

Students from BGAV churches may receive a scholarship up to $5,000 annually. Click here to learn more and apply.

All students are encouraged to seek additional support from their churches and other sources, as well as set up monthly payment plans by dividing the total cost (less scholarship and financial aid) over the length of the program.

Students can start as early as January 2020. Apply here or contact for more information.
